Late one night, at a very successful house party, Stan was trying to control the lighting for the disco that was taking place. The music was already loaded into a PC with a large hard disk, and it was running fine, with the "dance floor" full of people.
It was late. It was also Stan's Wife's birthday party ! The celebrations had been "fuelled" with quite a lot of alcohol, and Stan was beginning to get the lighting wrong. Enter David (who wrote most of the lighting control software). "What you need there is a programme, mate" The immortal words........
Thus Autodisco ! came into being, with David writing the main engine of the lighting software, and Stan amending various light routines, and building the hardware. Six months down the road, and Autodisco ! was used at Stan's birthday party. This time, the lighting was perfect, although again, considerable quantities of alcohol fuelled the occasion. Autodisco ! just got on with it, playing dance music all night, the only "user intervention" needed being adjustments to the volume as time got late.
